Method

1. Set up an aquarium safe for freshwater fish with the tank, gravel, filter, plants, heater, and water conditioner.

2. Add fish and wait a day while they adjust to their new home.

3. Add water from the tank into a container to test the control temperature of 24 Degrees C˚.

4. Fill a container with tap water that’s 21 Degrees C˚.

5. Fill a container with hot tap water. If the temperature is over 27 Degrees C˚, add 3 cups full of cold tap water. If the temperature is under 27 Degrees C˚, use the fish tank heater.

6. Fill a plastic bag with water from tank and add one fish.

7. Place the plastic bag into container filled with water.

8. Wait until the temperature inside the bag is compatible with the temperature outside the bag, and keep the fish inside the bag, inside the container.

9. Count how many times the fish’s gills open for 15 seconds.

10. Repeat steps 3, 6-9 with each fish.

11. Repeat steps 4, 6-9 with each fish.

12. Repeat steps 5-9 with each fish.
